Fifteen skiPS OVer Fourteen

Day 15: Favorite Scripture

Proverbs 3:5-6
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him,
and he shall direct thy paths."

This is a scripture that I have returned to
time and time again,
and it has helped me through many changes
and trials that I didn't have any idea how to deal with.

~~~
But last week, Moroni 7:45-46,48 was the guidance I needed.
"And charity suffereth long, and is kind,
and envieth not, and is not puffed up,
seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked,
thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in inquity
but rejoiceth in truth,
beareth all things, believeth all things,
hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren,
if ye have not charity, ye are nothing,
for charity never faileth.
Wherefore, cleave unto chairty,
which is the greatest of all,
for all things must fail.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father
with all the energy of heart,
that ye may be filled with this love,
which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers
of his Son, Jesus Christ...
that we may have this hope;
that we may be purified even as he is pure."
~~~

It's a step by step road map!
If you're holding a grudge,
have been offended or hurt by someone,
don't know how to relate or interact with someone,
PRESTO!
ROAD MAP!

Direct advice on how to cleanse and lift your soul,
relieving it of anger, frustration,
and painful offense.
What to do and what not to do
to live filled with the peace and love of Christ.
Purified.
Sounds amazingly fresh, light and wonderful to me.
I would love to feel like that :)

Day 13: Favorite Song

"Ready Marvin?"
"Ready Tammi."

this song is my favorite because it never fails to lift my spirit.
it reminds me of that sweet, delicious feeling you get in life
when you realize things are good.
Not easy.
but simply, richly good.
because you are alive and people love you.
and you take the moment to relish it.

SUPER Emotional

It should be a super power that actually fights bad guys
and saves civilians.

Instead,
the impending doom of a woman's monthly horror is almost upon me,
and the water works have started.

In my free mental time,
I start imagining horrible things
and even though I know they are not happening
nor do they have a very high chance of ever happening,
I suddenly find myself getting ready for the day,
sobbing over Tommy being hit by an imaginary car
on campus.

Cars can't even go over 10mph on campus due to the mass of pedestrians.
Plus he's my giant!
His bones are probably indestructible
unless there is a really fast train involved.

Over lunch,
I text Tommy about all the tiny sad things
that are suddenly devastating.

I tell him I'll probably be overly happy in 1 hour.

He says, he knows : )

1 hour later....

I'm reading all the happy birthday wishes
on my facebook page
sigh-sobbing "I just love all of these people!"

~ on the next day of madness ~

I just watched Goku sacrifice himself on Dragon Ball Z
to destroy Cell and save Earth.

Oh my heart!
Tommy even told me this was coming,
but I think I have a few more tears left for Goku!

"Cell was finally defeated,
the earth was saved,
thanks to a father's faith in his son.
Thanks for everything Goku!"

I think this makes me an official emotional nerd.
super.

30 Day Challenge

Day 3: Most Embarrassing Moment

With a history like mine,
it's hard to pick just one.

One experience of horrifying embarrassment
that surpasses all the others.

I had to call my friend Becca,
to think back upon my clumsy life
for the one.

I believe the summer of 2010 takes the cake.

I wanted to go on a weekend trip to Utah
and a wonderful guy from my ward let me ride in his car
with several other people needing rides.

On the trip back to Rexburg....

I was on my period.

And I tend to fall asleep during long car rides.
[Every car ride over 20 minutes.]

This was during the time I was wearing pads
and you really have to change those.
And I slept through the time when I should have changed mine.

In fact I didn't wake up until we arrived back in Rexburg.
4 Hours Later.

I was dropped off first.
I got up out of his cloth passenger seat,
collected my things
and,
 as my mother always taught me,
I looked back at my seat.

I'd left something.

Red
Big
Ingrained.

I can't remember what shape it was,
maybe a butterfly,
but I do remember the horrifying realization
that I had to tell the guy.
Who was currently carrying all of my bags up to my apartment.
Because he was top notch nice, nakies.

He wouldn't even let me clean it up myself.
Which made me feel even worse.

Don't bleed on other peoples vehicles Nakies.

30 Day Challenge - Day 1

[Lauren Lytle Inspired ~]

Day 1: Five Facts About Me Most People Don't Know

1. I am generally a very content person, but I have these obsessive surges of desire to do things I don't know how to do every once in a while that drive me insane. Because well, I don't know how to do them.

examples:
- write a children's book
- be a clothing designer
- be a blogger/writer that random people know about
- paint portraits
- have a master's degree worth of knowledge in my head

I get overwhelmed by these surges and for a while I feel like I'm starving to do this thing I've never done before! I have yet to feel satisfied by the time the surge leaves me. Sometimes it lasts days, sometimes months.

2. I love having things on the walls of my home that are too high for me to reach on my own. It means my amazing husband took extra time to decorate using our belongings. And it makes our temporary apartments feel like home.

3. I am a terrible swimmer. But if given the chance, I'd become a mermaid in an instant. [of course the transformation would come with dolphin-like swimming skills.]There are few things I love more in nature than the ocean. I want to be a part of it.

4. I am excited to get really old. My skin has been in the "rosy-fire engine spectrum" since the stinking puberty thing happened. I am excited to have pasty white skin and actually have a use for blush.

5. I starred in a movie during college that was made for some kind of film festival. I think it's smoldering remains have been buried in the heart of Russia. At least I hope so.

Over the next month, you can expect bits o' this:

1. Five facts about me most people don't know
2. Five favorite things
3. Most embarrassing moment
4. A photo of myself 10 years ago
5. A photo of myself today

"My Momma's So Awesome...." Day

It always creeps up on me.

But the ads for
flowers and chocolate covered strawberries
spring up like warning bells
and remind me every year about 7 days in advance.

This mothers day I am married,
(a.k.a. "stuck in an adult ward")
but haven't started growing any people yet.
And yet I still get chocolate at church!
Score!

Tommy made me mashed potatoes
(consumed too quickly to snatch a picture, Nakies you understand).

And cream of celery soup from scratch.
Apes, you may be thinking "Ew, Tommy, celery?"
But it was delicious.
I was supremely impressed.

I ate so much I got unbelievably full and fell into a food coma
like unto thanksgiving.
SO GOOD.

Then I decided I wanted cake.

I wanted to bake a cake.

From scratch.

Nakies,
 Once upon another time,
Carly baked a cake from scratch
and it turned out so dense
that she could have killed someone with it
if she'd dropped it off her balcony.

She, and all the fair maidens,
had to eat it by putting each piece in a glass of milk
to coax it down their throats.

This time was much better.
: )

I even invented a topping.
Involving banana slices and brown sugar goodness.

Sweet sweet sweet.

Then Tommy and I rebuilt the Capital Building.
No big deal.

Except it has a lot of windows.

Check out that smile!

Under belly work, almost done....

Ta da!

Yeah, this is just me.
Proof Nakies, proof.
I helped.
Plus, that's my leg up there.

And then I stole the pictures off of Tommy's camera
and blogged so much I think I'm good for 3 months.
Maybe?
No?

Well, Happy Mother's Day to me, I have the best husband ever : )

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful Ladies!!
